Beck, the mononymous (look it up!) alternative rock darling who broke onto the music scene in 1994 with the song “Loser,” is known for his lo-fi style and “musical collages” of sounds and genres. In addition to being a singer-songwriter, Beck is a record producer and multi-instrumentalist.
This fall in Session II we’ll be exploring Beck’s lushly sampled soundscapes, electronic influences, ironic lyrics and catchy beats. His music “encompasses folk, funk, soul, hip hop, alternative rock, country and psychedelia,” giving us lots of room to explore new things and play around with musical genres.
